Meet Anthony Barnett, Bryan University Applied Exercise and Fitness Graduate

A smiling man

For Anthony Rudine Barnett, fitness was always a calling. His question was how to turn that into something bigger. Enter Bryan University’s Associate’s Degree in Applied Exercise and Fitness

“I wanted to gain the knowledge and credentials to help others live healthier lives,” he says, “especially busy individuals who struggle to balance work, family, and their health.”

That desire to do more, reach more people, and back his passion with real expertise led Anthony to Bryan University.

“I realized that if I truly wanted to build a career in fitness and help people transform their lives, I needed formal education and training to back up my passion.”

Bryan stood out for its flexible online format and career-driven focus. But like many students considering online learning for the first time, Anthony had questions. Would the quality match an in-person program? Would he feel connected or lost in a virtual environment?

“Once I got started, I realized that the courses were well organized and the instructors were very responsive, which addressed those concerns quickly. Even though it was virtual, I still felt connected to the instructors and the learning experience.”

Anthony’s story is one many Bryan students know well, juggling education alongside jobs, family, and everything else life demands. The online format didn’t just accommodate that reality, it made success possible.

“The flexibility gave me the ability to study when it worked best for my schedule,” he says. “It allowed me to stay committed to my education without sacrificing other important parts of my life.”

He approached his coursework with the same discipline he brings to fitness by building a dedicated study schedule, creating a focused environment, and tackling challenges one step at a time.

“I stayed motivated by remembering my long-term goals and why I started the program.”

When Anthony hit submit on his final assignment, the sense of pride was real. But the work was just beginning.

Armed with a deeper understanding of exercise science, training principles, and healthy lifestyle strategies, he got to work, and not just in the gym, but on the page. Since graduating, Anthony has written and published five fitness books, all part of his The Balanced Blueprint Fitness Series, currently available on Amazon.

The series includes Built From Within, a guide to mindset and inner strength; The Balanced Blueprint, his signature fitness system; Balanced Living, focused on nutrition and recovery; Fit for Summer, built around high-impact workouts; and Balancing Life at 40, a wellness guide for staying strong as we age.

“Bryan University played an important role in helping me turn my passion for fitness into something that can positively impact others,” he says. “It gave me the educational foundation that helped make these accomplishments possible.”

Anthony’s goals are as straightforward as his advice: keep growing, keep helping people, and keep building.

“My long-term goal is to continue growing in the fitness and wellness industry, helping people transform their lives through healthier habits.”

To anyone on the fence about online school, he has a simple message.

“It may feel intimidating at first, but it’s absolutely possible if you stay committed. The flexibility of online learning actually makes it easier for many people who have jobs, families, or other responsibilities. Once you get into a routine, it becomes a very manageable and rewarding experience.”

His parting advice? “Trust the process and stay consistent. There may be challenging moments along the way, but staying focused on the bigger goal makes all the difference.”
