portrait of Heather Behm

Bryan University is pleased to recognize and spotlight Heather Behm, who works as a Senior Financial Advisor at Bryan University. Heather began working at Bryan in May of 2021, after spending time raising her children. Before having a family, Heather had worked in the financial services industry. So, when she was ready to return to work, she wanted to find a long-term career utilizing her finance background. She also wanted to find a position that would allow her to help those who are trying to help themselves further their education. When Heather came across the financial advisor position at Bryan, she researched Bryan University, “I knew that working at BU would be a great fit for me.”

As a Senior Financial Advisor, Heather loves being able to meet new people and help students achieve their financial goals. “I get to help our students understand their financial aid and educational finances enough to make them feel confident, so they can focus on their education when they start classes.” Heather also appreciates being able to work from home while still maintaining close relationships with her colleagues. Heather feels that BU is a fantastic organization to work for and values the support system that is in place at BU.

Heather says working at BU has taught her to value time and work efficiently. Working with a small team can get busy: answering calls, taking transfers calls, creating reports, and staying on top of your students and appointments. She credits BU for her change in how she values time and says she always tries to work smarter and more effectively. She values her and her colleague’s time and her students’ time which allows her to create trusting relationships throughout BU.

While Heather enjoys her position at BU, she also finds time to read. In fact, in 2021, she read over 200 books on her Kindle! Her favorite book genres are paranormal, horror, comedy, and romance. She also loves street tacos, “I could eat them every day and still get excited about them!”.

“Be a better person today than you were yesterday.” These words of wisdom Heather credits as the best advice she has ever given. Heather said that this was something her grandmother shared with her before she passed. She tries to live by that advice daily. “Be better today than yesterday; no matter what life throws at you and always strive to be a better person.”
