Bryan University’s Pharmacy Technician Certificate is aligned with current competencies by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and developed in collaboration with industry experts to prepare you for the CPhT certification. You’ll gain real-world practice experience through an externship combined with assignments that simulate job tasks to ensure you’re job-ready upon graduation.     Introduction to Pharmacy Science

    This course will teach students about the different roles and responsibilities of a pharmacy technician and guide you through the basic skills required to become engaged in the profession. Students will learn how to enter patient information, resolve online insurance claims, basic pharmacy calculations and much more.

  • RXT-110, 3.0 credits
    Pharmacology I

    This course covers the structure of major human body systems and how medications affect these systems. Students will learn strategies for using a broad array of medical terminology commonly used in health care professions. This course will also cover error prevention strategies, federal law for controlled substances and equivalencies of medication therapies.

  • UNV-101RX, 3.0 credits
    Student Success and Technology Foundations

    This course covers the information and skills needed to succeed in academic studies, including study skills, academic goal setting, and time management. It will also cover relevant technology skills such as word processing and presentation as it relates to being a pharmacy technician.

  • RXT-120, 3.0 credits
    Pharmacology II

    This course covers the structure of major human body systems and how medications affect these systems. Students will learn event reporting procedures, issues that require pharmacist intervention and federal requirements for recalls and drug restricted programs.

  • RXT-130, 3.0 credits
    Pharmacy Calculations

    This course covers pharmaceutical calculations that students will be practicing in the field as a pharmacy technician. This will include calculations used in non-sterile and sterile compounding to include alligations, IV flow rates, IV drip rates, percentage strengths and much more.

  • RXT-200, 3.0 credits
    Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam Review

    This Practicum consists of on-site pharmacy technician training. This course will provide the student with a guided review to prepare for the PTCB Certification Exam. During this course, the student will be able to prepare future goals for entering the field as a pharmacy technician.

If you complete a Bryan U associate degree or undergraduate certificate, these credits are transferrable to a higher degree, such as a bachelor’s degree.

Tuition Rates Go Down the Longer You're in School

As you progress through each credential level (e.g., certificate to associate degree, or associate degree to bachelor’s degree), your tuition decreases. Plus, your tuition is locked in once you enroll so that it never goes up as long as you remain continuously enrolled in good academic standing. Admission Requirements

To be admitted to Bryan University, prospective students must complete the following requirements:

  • Earn a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Be at least 17 years of age. If a student is under the age of 18, they will be required to have a parent or legal guardian counter-sign enrollment forms.
  • Fill out the University’s Application and pay a $25 registration fee.
  • Pass a computer and internet speed assessment to ensure technology minimums are met. Please see the university’s course catalog to see detailed technology requirements.
  • Complete all required forms for admission.
  • For transfer credit evaluation, submit official transcripts from past colleges and universities attended.
  • Complete an online introductory course – “LaunchPad” – to demonstrate the ability to navigate online coursework.
  • Attend online orientation to meet your faculty and classmates.
  • For all healthcare, public health, paralegal, and pharmacy technician programs, applicants must complete and pass a required criminal background check, which is provided by the university.
  • Note that students applying to healthcare programs may need to identify a practicum site. The university provides a list of approved practicum sites and will support students in site selection.
