It’s no secret, workplace health is a critical element in employee engagement and reducing healthcare costs. Due to this fact, a public health initiative began in Arizona. The Healthy Arizona Worksites Program or H.A.W.P was developed through a partnership between the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. This statewide program provides Arizona employers with training, technical assistance, tools, and resources to design, implement, and evaluate worksite wellness initiatives. HAWP also works to create linkages between Arizona businesses engaging in healthy worksite efforts so they can learn from each other and share experiences.
Bryan University was recently recognized with the highest possible honor from HAWP, the gold Healthy Arizona Worksite Award.
Why did BU earn this award? It’s simple, Bryan University cares about the health and wellness of its employees. Bryan University has created programs such as B.U.F.F (Bryan University Fitness FunAddicts), which is a worksite wellness committee that develops monthly health and wellness initiatives. They also provide an online, interactive wellness program called Vitality which allows employees to earn points that are redeemable for gift cards and other fitness items, both B.U.F.F and Vitality make getting healthy fun. In addition to the programs, BU also provides a walking workstation, subsidized healthy snack options in vending machines, a 24hr fitness center and monthly wellness lunch and learns.
Bryan University continues to create new and innovative ways to improve workplace health, and is now recognized as one of the healthiest places to work in Arizona.
