This month’s Bryan University employee spotlight is Shirley Nave. Shirley is a Reentry Associate who has worked for BU for over eight months. After working within the college admissions world for five years, Shirley found the Reentry Associate position and immediately became interested. “Even before I read the job description, I knew this would be my dream job.” After reviewing the job description and checking out everything BU had to offer, Shirley knew it was time to take her career in admissions to the next level.
Shirley finds the work that she is doing at BU to be rewarding and loves everything about her position. She has enjoyed learning about the Reentry process and everything her job entails, such as student appeals, transcript evaluation, working with alums, and enrolling students. For Shirley, she appreciates that the reentry process is so seamless. “I love building rapport with my students and sharing my own personal student experience of completing my undergraduate degree online.”
Shirley loves her position at BU, especially since each day brings a new student experience. Shirley also enjoys the work-life balance that working at BU has afforded her. “I feel valued and appreciated working here because of the great leadership and teamwork I’ve experienced.”
Working for BU has inspired Shirley to take a leap of faith and look for work that makes her happy. Shirley had been searching for her dream job for quite some time. While looking for her dream job, she had a few things she was looking for. She wanted recognition for her work and to excel in her career. “It’s such a great feeling to wake up and know I’m going to make a difference in someone’s life today, one student at a time.”
