This month’s Bryan University employee spotlight is Michael Scalice. Michael is a Career Services advisor and has been with BU for over six months. During his interview, Michael knew this would be a great opportunity and a perfect university team to work for, “Since accepting this role, I have not looked back.”
Michael’s career has allowed him to work in career services at various levels, including county and city. Being at BU has expanded his career to higher education at the national level. Michael says of working in career services, “Each position has brought its own set of rewards, but overall the reward is knowing that I’ve helped change someone’s life for the best.”
Michael enjoys his work at BU and cherishes his teamwork with the other BU Career Services team members. “The chance to work alongside a team of five of the most brilliant and dedicated individuals in Career Services has been a blessing.” Michael acknowledges that while they each have different approaches, they all focus on one common goal. The camaraderie the team shares through their spirit for the work and their sense of humor reminds them of why they come to work each day.
“BU Career Services has been the most fantastic group of people I’ve had the privilege of working with in quite some time, and as a department, we have accomplished a great deal together.” The BU Core Value, “Win Together,” resonates so much with Michael because of his fellowship with the other Career Services team members.
He is inspired daily through his work and he greatly appreciates the students and graduates he works with. BU is his first experience working with students and graduates nationally. Because of that, he is gaining an appreciation for the challenges and intricacies of job searches in big cities, small towns, or very remote locations. “BU’s students have been very warm and receptive in my interactions with them, and I hope they each achieve great things in their careers!”
