Bryan University Shares Proven Remote Work Practices at NWCCU Conference

Bryan University recently earned national recognition by being selected to present best practices at the annual Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities conference, a distinction that speaks to how the institution is leading with purpose in a remote-first environment.

Bryan University President Eric Evans and Dr. Larry Banks delivered a session titled Orchestrating an Excellent Mission-Focused Environment for Remote Workers. Their presentation pulled back the curtain on how Bryan University successfully operates with staff, faculty, and leadership spread across 17 states, without losing alignment, momentum, or culture.

The focus was simple and real. Remote work only works when leadership is intentional

President Evans and Dr. Banks shared how clearly defined roles, consistent communication, and mission-driven decision-making have allowed teams to stay connected and accountable, even when they are miles apart.

“Distance does not have to equal disconnect,” said Dr. Banks. “When everyone understands the mission and how their role supports it, strong performance follows, regardless of location.”

The session also addressed the challenges that come with running a geographically dispersed institution, including managing communications across different time zones, sustaining engagement, and maintaining high standards. Rather than glossing over these realities, the presentation focused on practical systems and leadership habits that actually work.

Conference attendees showed strong interest, leading to meaningful discussions among NWCCU member institutions that share similar operational models.

Many were eager to understand how Bryan University maintains consistency and results without relying on a traditional campus-based structure.

President Evans emphasized that the approach is not about chasing trends. “Remote work is just the environment,” he shared. “The mission is the anchor. When that stays front and center, everything else falls into place.”

Being selected to present at the NWCCU conference reinforces Bryan University’s commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and transparency. It also reflects a willingness to share what has been learned, contributing to a broader conversation about how higher education can evolve without losing its core values.

The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities is a recognized accrediting body dedicated to upholding academic quality and advancing institutional effectiveness across higher education.

Bryan University’s presence at this year’s conference positions the university not just as a participant in that conversation, but as a leader helping shape it.
